Analysis Of The Poem The Mother - 2371 Words

A life is something that you will never forget, but when you take that life it will stay with you forever. Especially when the life is one that is your own child. The poem â€Å"The Mother† is a poem explaining this and we will dive into the opinion I have on the poem. In my opinion this poem is trying to get the point of how abortion is something that you will never forget because it was the own mother who killed the baby themselve and that is the toughest part. The poem is very graphic in the way that it describes how â€Å"the mother† went through with having the abortion. The poet tries to tell the mother of how the kids life would been and what they would of became and the pleasures of raising the kids to make them become the person they want†¦show more content†¦This makes me think in a woman’s point of view and go into the shoes of a mother to maybe see how myself would be able to do what she did. In my eyes through my cognitive thinking even if you have the child at least give the child a chance to live by giving the child up for adoption. This allows the child to live and maybe have a great life that you could not give the child due to your situation. The message of this poem is very strong to my cognitive sense of my mind because of how powerful the message is especially when the poet says you can never forget a abortion. The way that she describes the mother having to look at her dead baby with little to no hair on the child and how it lays there lifeless is something that leads me to almost breakdown because the feeling of losing a child or even taking your own child’s life is something that messes with my mind and makes me feel a sense of compassion for the mother. Then when she goes on with how the child could of became something, but you never gave it the chance to go on and do that is hard for my mind to be and a comprehend why you could ever try and take the life of that child. Especially when the women is potentially already a mother who has kids and just committed the sin of taking a child of God and her own child.
